> For me, Google web search is about as relevant to my life as Yahoo search. Something I used to use, something that used to be better, but which I’ve found a vastly superior alternative to.

Same here.

Would love to if there was some way to make searches without linking it to an account. Not sure the best way to do this, maybe via an open source browser extention with a wallet that automatically makes micro payments whenever a search is made? The problem being that the anonymous cryptos are too slow and have too high of fees for micro payments (Monero), and the instant and feeless ones are not anonymous (Nano) sigh. They probably claim to not link searches to acocunts but I don't really trust any privacy statements these days and prefer to ensure it myself.

I honestly find myself just asking AI more and more often than actually searching pages for info.

AI is also good at just parsing the shitty search results and surfacing what you ask, url-wise.

This is probably the worst use of AI possible.

(But I’m guilty of it myself… through Kagi! I postfix the query with an interrogation point and boom, I have my answer. I only do it for trivial things, or things I can verify easily, though.)

in terms of cost, maybe. in terms of my effort, I dunno. but you're right, it's environmentally unsound. I don't usually compute with that lens, though.
