Chinese company wants to attach rockets to its hypercar to do 0-62mph in 0.9s
topgear.comCars with pulsejets and jet turbines have existed as concepts and experiments before, sounds like a expensive one time boost as described though?
Going from robot vacuum cleaners to rocket powered hypercars is quite a pivot.
The rocket powered car is clearly total horseshit. 100KN solid rockets motors would cost several thousand dollars per burn and would melt all that nice bodywork. Also the nozzles are wrong. And it would almost certainly be impossible to control.
Also some reports say it is a rocket engine, others say it is a jet. Rockets and jets are not the same thing. A 100KN jet engine would probably be bigger than the car.
While TopGear maintains some scepticism, it is embarrassing that so many other outlets are reporting this uncritically.
