It has been obvious for at least 10 years that the Yuan is undervalued allowing China to undercut and undermine all your local companies.

    China also makes and sells hybrid and standard ICE cars in the UK

    The best selling car of 2026 is a Chinese non-EV.

    So I think the cheap Chinese cars will can el out of the equation.

    The local brands being forced to move down market to sell smaller/cheaper EVs as the sales requirements mean they can no longer hot required levels of EV sales by targeting the high end of the market is a bigger influence I think.

    in addition, this doesn't take into account that there are a plethora of expensive, big, petrol/diesel cars for which there is no electric equivalent. There are lies, and then there are statistics.
