The first time I heard of /Stanley Jordan, was when he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman.

I was half asleep on the couch, and when he came out, I saw the guitar and perked up a little (I'm a guitar player who still perks up on sight of the mighty axe). Then he started to play, and my jaw hit the floor.

This was when Van Halen style 2-hand tapping was still very popular, but this was a very different thing altogether. It blew my mind.

His fluidity and ability to make it sound like proper music is just stunning. I think modern guitarists that do all this randomish sounding Polyphia stuff need to watch players like Stanley Jordan.

Have a wild technique. But never lose sight of the music!
