Trump is clearly losing coherence and lucidity. Other people plan for him, and whenever Epstein revelations increase in volume or proximity to him, a new assault is pulled up from the contingency bin. There has been one after another in rapid succession since Jan 2025.

It's simply "Weapons of Mass Distraction"

But could get extremely deadly as the "Epstein Event Horizon" approaches.

The latest WSJ reporting is that Trump is considering sending troops into steal Iran's uranium because a Fox News host said it was a good idea.

Which neatly confirms both the "other people can put ideas into Trump's head" and the "Trump is a fucking idiot" sides of this discussion.

This reads like Qanon cope in 2020, when Trump had been in office for 3 years. The Storm is not forthcoming, nobody is bleeding out in the streets from mRNA COVID vaccine, and Trump is not playing 4D chess

this whole thing <gestures broadly at Trump and those three election cycles and two terms> plus MAGA's "paint the bullseye around the arrow" have certainly been a clear demonstration of human psychology, I'll give the author that much

What's fascinating in the context of HN is that Trump is partly a product of the industry luminaries we talk about and occasionally see contributions from on this forum. They would get off too lightly if we write it down to cynical opportunism. Some of them are clearly taken in by pseudo intellectuals like Moldbug, crank philosophies like Accellerationism, and long-debunked pseudoscience like eugenics.

The tech industry needs to get better at identifying these pathologies early enough, and acting to prevent damage.
