Gateway seemed to be pretty roundly panned by space experts, including a number of former astronauts, notably Buzz Aldin. Still, any change at this point is a death sentence for the U.S.’s lead in Space Race 2.0. The space industry (outside of SpaceX) is known for being a retirement community. Meanwhile, the Chinese are humming along working 996 while getting little press over here.

    Some of the US private companies like SpaceX and Stoke Space do good stuff. Not sure about Blue Origin.
