Cursor's Composer 2 model identifier reveals Kimi K2.5 base with RL fine-tuning
twitter.comIf this leak is true, this is very bad for Cursor.
Because Anthropic listed Moonshot AI (creators of the Kimi Models) as part of the 'distillation attack" campaign [0].
That's enough evidence for Anthropic to ban Cursor from offering Claude even when serving a competing model and I predict that Anthropic will ban them just like they did with OpenAI, xAI and OpenCode.

I’m not certain here, because I think Cursor drives a chunk of cash through token usage to Anthropic.
$2B dollar in funding, yet unable to solve a problem, but getting ready for another series of funding Round to keep the machine afloat.
This made me laugh https://www.forbes.com/sites/annatong/2026/03/05/cursor-goes...
If that's what winning looks like AI Summer is coming!

To reproduce: host a server that logs incoming requests (localhost is blocked), set it as your OpenAI base URL, and select Composer 2. This works for GPT and Claude models too. Composer 1.5 is the only model that blocks it.
Nice! Was what Composer 1.5 based on?
