Looking at these pics and considering Trump's general combative stance on global trade, I wonder if the attack on Iran and the subsequent chaos they've caused intentionally - I wonder if this is intentional, to incentivize countries to localize production.
It's laughable to think Trump knew what a canal was or why it might be important before being told to go to war.
Perhaps time to dig out a channel to cut across the land there? To add some second path.
