A pattern I've seen from the smart people in my life is how they find tricks to train themselves.

Like teaching oneself to avoid a disparaging inner voice. Or a jiujitsu move from the rational mind to retrain poor emotional responses.

This article is a great example of someone doing that to themselves.

School doesn't teach us how to learn. Even worse, school doesn't help us focus on topics that are deeply important.

We learn almost by mistake.

Gaining wisdom sometimes feels like a random walk: and I think it would be nice if it could be more intentional.

Your actions are important because you are important. Why would you ever shortchange yourself on your most valuable asset by being anything but your best self?
