Don't believe or trust what they are saying. It's by design and a deliberate act of narcissism.
These people in reality are complete psychopaths and feed on others caring about them. That goes for anyone else writing performative letters on lecturing others about principles but will immediately abandon them and sell their souls for the right price.
Super interesting take...is this something you've seen / experienced before?
I had sort of assumed best intent but probably good to be a little more skeptical / critical but also narcissism or psychopathy seems like a pretty significant deal if true.
