Worldwide Sidewalk Joy: Adding whimsy to neighborhoods

The park across the street from me in Minneapolis has a stick library. It's well-stocked and popular with both dogs and little kids.

I remember when I was very very young in my small city (~100,000 people). In the summer time after say 6:00PM, people would sit on their front stairs and also take short walks around the area, socializing with everyone they met for a few hours.
That came to an end in the late 60s, early 70s. That was going on in all the neighborhoods throughout the City. Maybe people will start doing that again in the areas that have this "whimsy".
We've got a free art exchange box on main street in town. Always fun to see what's in there. Never empty and always different. Maybe it's from reading Capitalism by Beckert, but libraries, art exchanges, fix it parties, and other GNP lowering activity really feels awesome.
Oh man - I tried to star this, but Google maps engine is discontinued and there’s a warning sign that data will be deleted. I wonder if this awesome map will vanish, and how it could be moved somewhere else. :-/
