Anthropic chief back in talks with Pentagon about AI deal

Is the only sentence in that article related to the title and there’s no information to back up the statement? How is this a news article?

Hopefully Mistral or open-source can get similar models working. At the moment on the Max subscription with Claude Code, need to get away though.
If the goal is less AI in militaries, how does having better open source models improve things?
Honestly, I found Kimi K2.5 to be a suitable replacement. I use it through opencode, with the "Oh My Opencode" plugin, and I'm really starting to think that the harness makes a far bigger difference than the model.
I'd put it as 90% as good as Opus 4.6, I have to direct and correct it a bit more, but it's well worth the price difference.

Exactly this. Dario is a far bigger snake than Altman. Altman is fairly transparent and his plays are obvious on the surface, but Dario is the type of guy that will shiv you in the spine when you turn the lights off. Anthropic consistently employs blackhat marketing techniques. The amount of times they've released nonsense clickbait media pushes backed by "studies" that don't reinforce what they claim, about their AI being "sentient", is a prime example of that. Ever since they launched they have been reinforcing the narrative that they're the "safe" and "moral" AI company, when it's far from the truth, hence their Palantir partnership. It's a pure marketing gimmick. They care about one thing and one thing only: Power. Money is the means to get there.
Non issue if they keep their red lines.

Lately it seems there are so many poor role models with so much power. It's really disheartening to say the least.

It really is the classic "you either die a safety-first AI lab, or you live long enough to see yourself back at the Pentagon negotiating table" arc.
