60 years since Australia transitioned from shillings to cents

I remember my grandfather in Queensland having a box (or boxes) of coins. I recall the metallic smell, the slightly waxy feel. They were old coins. Not in current circulation. Shillings were among them. I believe the dates were before 1956.
