Some people on the extreme right are slowly figuring out that the multicultural cities will always keep them out of power.
It would make sense for the presidential election in the US to be based on the popular vote. But states running their own election systems enables trying things like ranked choice voting for House and Senate members, as well as state and local offices.
And here is their first overt strike to create a permanent Republican ascendency.
Elections will likely still be held, but they will become strictly performative; a thin veneer of legitimacy over a foregone and pre-engineered conclusion.
