    Pollock is supposed not to have been aware of this. However, during the Cold War the eastern bloc used art and culture as propaganda all the time. Many artists in the west were their sympathisers.

a friend has a whole room full of paintings done by a relative who painted with Pollock in the same studio, many of them imitive or similar to Pollock, just thought hmmmmm, wonder if any of them are actualy Pollacks work.......

Seems like a huge waste of resources hunting down rich peoples art for little gain
