Hey HN!

I've been maintaining HackTheNews (a native iOS client for Hacker News) for a while now, and with iOS 26 dropping its new "Liquid Glass" design language, I couldn't resist doing a full visual overhaul.

What's new: - Complete redesign using iOS 26's Liquid Glass materials - Translucent, layered UI that adapts to your wallpaper - New glass-style navigation and tab bars - Refined typography and spacing for the new aesthetic

Implementation notes for fellow iOS devs: - Used the new `.glassEffect()` modifiers throughout - Had to rethink some hierarchy decisions – Liquid Glass works best with fewer nested containers

The before/after difference is pretty striking. Happy to share more technical details if anyone's curious about adopting Liquid Glass in their own apps.

Would love to hear your feedback – especially from fellow HN readers on what features you'd like to see next. Always open to suggestions!

I haven’t seen a new app in a long time that uses iOS 26 and Liquid Glass and actually takes it seriously. Even big apps barely pay attention to it. On top of that, it’s an amazing iOS app for HN. The experience is flawless.

Really appreciate that! I wanted to fully embrace Liquid Glass instead of doing a half-measure – felt like it deserved the commitment. Glad it shows!

Two users created within 10 minutes of each other to only comment on this thread giving glowing reviews of the app…?

I shared the Show HN link with a small group of friends who are interested in this app. Some of them created accounts to comment. No affiliation beyond that.

Thanks! The link preview was one of those features I spent extra time on – it really helps you quickly decide if an article is worth diving into before opening it. Glad you noticed!
