HP-UX hits end-of-life today
osnews.com> HP-UX hits end-of-life today
HP really looks like a company where ideas go to die (hello Google). They aquired Apollo, killed it. They aquired Compaq, killed Alpha, sent VMS in a nursing home where it is still on life support, killed PA-RISC and, finally, they are killing now HP-UX.
Good that they got rid of Agilent, on time.
The decision to kill off Alpha was made by Compaq, not HP.

Ah, my first Unix. RIP
what a spectacularly odd time to exit the Unix marketplace
HP is also ending support for its Itanium-based hardware, which seems like the main motivation here.
