The Miata Is a Better Sports Car Than the S2000 (2020)

I had a Gen 1 Miata and it was a roadster, not a sports car. Beautiful, turned engine ports, throw the top and cruise, ... Probably the best, most enjoyable ride I've had. But not dripping with horsepower, and some care had to be exercised getting on the freeway uphill.

They poured a V8 Mustang pushrod into it to make a Monster Miata and I should have bought that rather than the Cobra. A Miata whose only obvious difference was two tail pipes. Until they turned the key :-).

They said the S2000 had a lawnmower engine in it due to its huge RPM at redline. Not quite as pretty as a V1 Miata, but way more performance. Unfortunately, I didn't fit the firewall and I have short legs :-(.

The Z3 BMW was also a beautiful piece of work, which was killed by the angular Z4. Different strokes, I guess.

And a Yamaha MT-07 will give you more thrill for your buck! OR - you could buy a new MT-07 and a used ND2 Miata for less than the cost of a new ND2 Miata and have loads of fun!
