The death of libraries – Long live the robot

I know this is about software, but my immediate reaction to the title alone was, damn all the wrong people have these robots.

Why wouldn't cheap smart robotics mean that someone commands robots to automatically travel to every population center with over 1000 people on the planet creating incredible physical spaces to house as much knowledge as physically possible: Using whatever local resources exist, be it creates a tree-cutter-paper-printer machine or digital storage racks or chipping holographics into crystals or whatever. With the sole purpose of making sure all knowledge is replicated everywhere in the world as much as possible forever.

Nah, just rich people paying 60K for them to slowly put their laundry in the washer and so their kids can kick it around a bit
