growingfearless.substack.comWorking from home has its benefits, that nearly all of us celebrate, but it also has many negatives that - imo - tend to be ignored for fear of disrupting the WFH fan base. I am always seeing my colleagues over Zoom, and everybody I work with is always over Zoom, and it's led to almost a version od estrangement. I'm not there to bump into people in the hallway, to go to lunch with people, I'm all by myself at home. That's great because I can set my own schedule, don't have to use an alarm to wake up, work in my bathrobe, all those great things… I just wish there were some people around. Half the time I wish my company would make me return to the office, because I think then I would have a real opportunity to get those spontaneous connections and build those interpersonal connections..
