If you drew the symptoms of conditions in the DSM as a Venn diagram I tend to believe most of the conditions would overlap for their expression and key signature.

A small set would represent polar opposites but also have underlying related definitions and a few would have no analogues and just be solitons.

Even florid mania could expose with depression. Depression would have to be "it's always the DNS" of the DSM.
