The top Ruby news this week were all about the Ruby Central and Shopify drama
ruby.libhunt.comThis drama saddens me in two different ways. First, the community has always be very friendly on the whole and lacking similar negative drama. On the other hand, Shopify has always been pinpointed as a good example how Ruby can shine. The being on the "evil" side this time... that's sad and disappointing. I've tried figuring out why they might act in this way. My personal explanation - they are too big and rich, and want to have more tight control over the tech that's their drive-horse.
