This feels like Intel is preparing to break the company into Foundry business and non-foundry business.

Unless AMD did a major mistake and mis-step unfortunately I think this is all too little too late. Both Laptop APU and Server CPU market share are continuously being eaten up. Of All the product line I dont see anything that Intel earn money and sustain their Foundry business heavy CAPEX and R&D.

Charlie Demerjian of SemiAccurate thinks this will be the killing blow for Intel in the long run.

Personally, I am worried Intel is approaching the point of no return in terms of a recovery plan.

What is going to happen to those multi billion dollar investments Intel made in ASML EUV machines?

Charlie has been Anti Intel for nearly two decades?

Charlie was pretty big on Gelsinger. And he is big on Holthaus.

Perhaps this says more about Charlie than Intel.

I'm not sure I understand. Is the suggestion that Charlie is wrong here?

One CEO is gone mainly because he thought that he could home run his way back to prominence with a "Fabs to Nowhere" strategy which has crippled the company's finances.

One "Product CEO" had a material chunk of her responsibilities re-allocated to Tan after he came on board with him frequently saying that their product roadmap has been subpar.

Ah yes, there's a turf war going on(°). https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/semiconductors/in...

...and guess what, the guy who responds to a crisis by breaking up the company!! is a former investment banker.
