Fixing a problem at 40 that stumped me as a 10 year old

When I was 10 in a pre-internet era, an instructor offered the question: "Why do mirrors reverse left and right but not up and down!" That stumped me for a decade. When the answer arrived in my mind, it was pure delight! What a gorgeous example of begging the question.
