2.5B Gmail accounts at risk, Google urges password updates

I find it hard to believe that such an important piece of news would not be reported earlier by more reputable news sites, and already be on the front page of hn. Since the ny post is known to spin a web of lies around a kernel of truth (which is then usually out of context), I assume this is one of these times.
