Where Did All Those Brave Free Speech Warriors Go?
techdirt.comIs someone’s right to free speech more important than someone’s right to dignity?
In the US, you have no right to dignity. I've always admired that the German constitution starts with one, and I feel that the lack of it is a serious flaw in the American constitution. The right to free speech is almost unlimited, and nearly free from pressure by the government.
But that is not what the "free speech" warriors wanted. They weren't just asking for the right to speak, but the right to force you to listen. They wanted to compel companies to carry their speech.
Now, the actual government is explicitly telling people to shut up, and implicitly threatening them with legal action. That may or may not be legal, but surely those who have such an extreme pro-free-speech position would object, no?
