Maybe it's a political message. Sure it is. But it's a legal defense; maybe some day someone could come after accounts who have come into contact with these holdings. Tornado Cash being sanctioned & the wallet-scale that created was enormous (sanctions notably overturned by the courts 4 months ago, saying the treasury exceeded their authority).

Getting rid of the money is a mercy to the crypto world.
