10m rides, that get's us to like what? a quarter past 9am on Monday in Mumbi. They have a long way to go before any claims of scaling are valid, and not just scale, but the ability to perform when cabs are in highest demand, busy rush hour, cold, rainy, approaching the hollidays
Who would even want a Waymo in Mumbai? Human-driven taxis and autorickshaws there are cheap and comfortable. Public transit is fast and low-latency.
It seems perfect for cities without cheap taxis or fast public transit.
Disclosure: I'm a Googler but have no inside knowledge of Waymo.
Oh no. thay haven't completely solved the entire problem all at once. all they've managed to do is make significant progress in proving that the problem is tractable. they should should stop wasting their time and get real jobs.
The hyperbole of the title is the point I think. It actually does make me cynical like Waymo could fart and the US cheer leading machine would go into action.. How is WeRide doing and why are they faking that they are a California company?

You can't actually ride one as a tourist, since it requires a USA-based Apple Store account and local credit card.
Im Norwegian and have used it several times in the US.
How did you do it, is the app downloadable in the norwegian App Store?
In the Netherlands store the Waymo One app is not available, I thought it would be the same for other countries but apparently I was wrong.
My colleagues took one a week ago and are both Android users from New Zealand, so I don't think that's true?
May be different for Android then? It was definitely true for me when I visited not long ago.
I stopped using Apple stuff in any capacity because of their regioning of accounts a long time ago, so it being unique to them wouldn't surprise me.
Yea, my relatives (india) with one android and one iphone took a couple as well in san francicso.
Would love to know how for next time - the app is only available in the US app store, and I had no luck requesting Uber EV.
A couple Canadian friends of mine rode in one two weeks ago so I don’t think that’s true?
