Sometimes, object oriented programming is the right choice

I posted this article because it has interesting proglang discussion but I only partly grokked it.

My comment is a desire to understand why people want to encapsulate state with the data and not just break down and do more functional first code. Less "ya'll should learn the ML way" and more "WHY is object oriented the default and not functional."
