Lawyers Won’t Be Replaced by AI — But Maybe by a Legal LLM

Lawyers can't be replaced by AI because they are licensed professionals.

People will consult lawyers less in favor of uploading documents to an AI notebook and consulting with AI to make sense out of it.

People coming to lawyers will be more prepared and have better questions; lawyers will have to explain fewer basic to them.

There is likely a lot of interest in that because laywers bill by the hour and are very expensive. They don't necessarily want to pay for an hour just to be tutored on some generalities.

I have a tiny bit of experience in this general area, since I have uploaded my provincial and city traffic codes to NotebookLM. It gives accurate, on-point answers to questions about it, with citations pointing into the document.
