Autoregressive Biomedicine

TL;DR This essay proposes three capabilities to look for in powerful biomedical AI: data alchemy, world modeling, and translational reasoning. With these in mind, it assesses whether tokenizing all biomedical data ever collected and feeding it to a large next-token prediction model will move us in the right direction.
