Btrfs RAID1 reading balancing sounds relevant to me. My desktop involves RAID1 across NVMe SSDs and SATA SSDs. I remember reading this is a supported configuration but I didn't delve deeply into how it would behave behind the scenes.
Can we program the NPU like the cpu?
