Show HN: Get hired faster by reaching decision-makers early
insideropenings.comI built Insider Openings because I know how frustrating job searching can be. You spend hours tweaking resumes, writing cover letters, applying through job boards… and then? Crickets. I’ve been there, wondering if anyone even saw my application.
But after years of working with startups, I noticed something most job seekers don’t see is that when a company raises funding, they’re about to grow. They start hiring fast, often before a job ever hits a careers page. That’s when the window of opportunity is wide open… but no one’s talking about it.
So I thought, what if I could give job seekers a head start? A list of companies fresh off a funding round, along with direct contacts to the people actually making hiring decisions? That’s how Insider Openings was born. While this is a cool idea, I'm not really sure how it's ever going to be worth $20/mo. At most I'd pay $5 (which should still make you quite profitable?), since all outreach will be essentially cold. Retention is also a problem, since once someone finds a job, they won't need your service anymore. People spend far more on job applications with a premium LinkedIn account, so this offers a more targeted outreach with a trigger-event that is a leading indicator! The goal is that people shouldn't have to stay subscribed for long, the whole idea of the product in the first place! :) Where do you get your source data from? Many different sources to get funding data, via APIs and searching and scraping the web. Not easy to gather via just a simple Google search.
