Rusty String Formatting in PHP

I feel like I miss the point though. Like, PHP already has string interpolation as a native feature. And if when in need for padding, something like str_pad or Laravel Str::pad*() functions, will be much more explicit than any new ideographic custom no matter how nice and wit it might feel.
