Ask HN: What browser to use after Google limits adblockers?

Today Google Chrome disabled my adblocker, and the internet with ads experience shocked me.

I can still re-enable it, but it seems like June 2025 is the actual deadline for support removal. Ostensibly because uBlock Origin doesn't comply with Googles "best practices", but in reality because it threatens their business model.

Now I'm faced with the personal question of which browser to migrate to. The whole ecosystem seems very unhealthy to me, with Firefox getting 80% of their revenue because of Google, Brave being based on Chromium, and there virtually not being any other independent browser because writing a browser is an insanely complex undertaking.

Thoughts from the HN crowd?

Related question- what would have to happen to Safari before it becomes an alternative for Chrome users? I understand it doesn’t have bleeding edge features, but as a developer you can’t afford to target those anyway. As a user it’s lean and fast and battery life is excellent compared to Chrome. What am I missing?

Thorium is the best Chromium-based browser, which is a necessity on many web pages, due to Google embracing and extending web standards.

When a chromium browser isn't necessary, I recommend SeaMonkey or PaleMoon, which are both Gecko-based web browser, like Firefox.

Firefox, though some variant like Librewolf is better. Firefox is packed full of bloat nonsense garbage nowadays.

I just use Firefox with uBlock origin.

Firefox and (more importantly) Pi-Hole.

i use all of them, each one is a separate tool.
