Do VCs have to operate SideProject communities to survive?

I started a SideProject community in order to find someone to do projects with, and its growing. A thought struck me: with building getting cheaper, startups will get further than before and without VCs support. Will VCs have to move further up the funnel to where startups actually start? I think YC should own SideProject community. Everything starts on the side... I love Paul Graham so in trying to learn to write like him, this is my first essay actually!
