Blooie - Intelligent Conversation Platform
bloo.ieThe only way to see what the app does is to either watch the video (which I haven't done) or to sign up using Twitter/Google.
I think it would be useful for people like me to provide some way to know (even a small writeup would help) what the app is without forcing us to give the credentials or watch a video.
I signed up with Twitter and still couldn't figure out what it did. Clicking a "chat" button gave me a traceback.
That doesn't happen any more. We're busy ironing out a few small things, if you try it again it should work.
there is a tour that is designed for website owners available here: https://bloo.ie/tour . We have plans to create a more user centric tour soon.
Remember how you could just talk to people any way you'd like (email, IRC, lists, usenet, forums, IM etc.)? Forget that, that's boring (or rather inconvenient for us to intercept). Talk to people though us so we can read your conversation without any effort, profile you and then sell you to our advertisers. It makes perfect sense.
What is wrong with the Internet? It was going so well.
Thanks for the feedback. We completely understand your concerns and thats why we bring up the privacy point in the video. The point you miss is that we dont want to connect you to the people you know. Why? because you already know these people. We want to connect you to new and interesting people that like to talk anbout the same things you do. Hence "email, IRC, lists, usenet, forums, IM etc." aren't sufficient. Mainly because they focus on people that you know and also because (when talking to people you dont know) you arent having a conversation you are reading posts. We are not out to steal your data (says the faceless founder). We analyse the conversations so we can build a profile about the content you enjoy and what you like to talk about. We then use this data to provide you with new content and connect you to people you would like to chat to. None of you chat logs are saved and all of the data we pull from the conversations is anonymised against your account name. We do offer data back to the content provider but this is done by demographics and is never pinned to specific users.
Well handled, you sound like a nice company. Good luck.
You're still an online advertiser, and god knows we've got enough of these.
Thanks for the support. Much apriciated! On your point, we actually dont do any advertising. Our data can help influence advertising so it becomes more relevant to the user. Rather than just spam adds. But we dont actually supply advertisements.
Just curious how you were able to get a domain hack approved with an .ie domain. I had tried previously a few years ago, but Ireland was very restrictive in allowing them.
One of the founders here... As far as i am aware you have to have a registered Irish company to avail of the .ie domain name. Thats how we got it.
Error i got
array(42) { ["REDIRECT_FUEL_ENV"]=> string(10) "production" .... " ["SERVER_SOFTWARE"]=> string(22) "Apache/2.2.20 (Ubuntu)" ["SERVER_NAME"]=> string(7) "bloo.ie" ["SERVER_ADDR"]=> string(13) .....
Windows Xp, chrome 20.0
thats been fixed now, cheers for the feedback
Wow, quick response. much appreciated.
But i still get "unexpected error has occured" message when i clicked on "Want to chat right now?" https://bloo.ie/thanks
We're looking into this problem now, we'll let you know when we're done
Great to see a Newcastle, UK based startup launch their product. Saw these guys pitch halfway through their accelerator program and thought the concept looked pretty cool.
They're recruiting too if anyone is looking.
Well the fact that both of the founders are Irish really helped the matter ;) I think you can get one if you move to Ireland but you have to be really committed to the url you want!
All I'm getting is an error message when I try to chat...
We're looking into it. Right now it seems to help by logging out (link in top right). Let me know how you get on
I get the same error - signed in using Twitter.
Thanks for the heads up. Our login in system has just crapped its pants for some reason (hasn't happened before) and we are fixing it currently. Thanks for the feedback.
Same error here too. It's unfortunate that this made it to HN before it was fully tested.
