Today I got to know that the data export, backup and import options provided by Zoho on various zoho products is total bummer.

They are totally hideous in masking the detail that

- Any data exported from any zoho product cannot be imported back into the same product (CRM is an exception, but that too throws a lot of mapping errors!)

For example, I wanted to clone the data from Zoho projects and Zoho Books into another Zoho Projects and Books in a totally new paid account and I got to know that they don't support importing of Zoho exported data. I'm totally perplexed and annoyed and feeling let down from such a useless company.

What is the use of having a data export, import and backup option if they cannot support their own products?

Or are they very sure that once a customer moves away from their platform they are not going to comeback again into their ecosystem!

It must be it!

Support chat was enlightening to know that the options do not exist!

My ask is very simple.

If that is the case (let it be and I want to end my relationship with it asap), I need the information published across all data export/import/backup or data administration modules in bold letters and across all Zoho product documentation that any data exported from any Zoho product cannot be used to restore or imported back into the Zoho product. That's all! Anyone from Zoho who could get this across? I'm sure that based on the conversation, they don't give a damn!

(And voices head over the wind states that their internal practices are also very shady and no one knows what they are doing and don't give a damn about customer data or anything sensitive!)

    I have been contacted by many folks and updating me that the functionality is not yet present on Zoho products.

    Probably I should accept that I might have missed the option of going through the gazillion support tickets and sites, (for an expected functionality, which should be existing in the product without a miss!!), and for being dumb, but nothing really matters.

    The existing documentation and sites should carry a warning and informational poster notifying the users that the data export and backup option is useless and cannot be used to create or restore a service back to it's original state.

    I do not want to hear about using APIs and other integrations as it needs additional time, effort and cost which is not acceptable under any circumstances.

    I have been reading support tickets since 8+ years (!!seriously... 8+ years!! Whoa are you kidding Zoho? Don't take the customers for granted or you will cease to exist sooner or later!) with the statement that they don't support importing their own backups =back into their product ecosystem!

    This is a missing feature across all zoho products except CRM (Which still doesn't map the exported columns and fields and still clueless about the exported data!), but at least it does have a import option with zoho crm listed...

    C'mon folks! That is not that tough considering how much you have grown in the recent years.
