Next-level frosted glass with CSS backdrop-filter

I can't help but feel that instead of a blog post, this should've been a bug report for the rendering engine or the browser, or maybe an email to the spec committee? It's neat to have a way to work around this issue, but to me this looks like a pretty clear bug with the way the blur is implemented.
