IntelliJ Idea 2024.2 Is Out

warning: the new terrible UI is now almost mandatory

you can't turn it off, you have to install a plugin instead (which they've said will be sunset reasonably soon)

at which point I'll cancel my subscription and just use the old version forever more

this new version also has "AI assistant" ads which keeps coming back despite being removed
