"How Google perfected the web" is a pretty misleading title for this HN post. The article is about how websites make themselves worse in response to the imperatives of Google's search algorithms.

    Well, it is the title of the article. You are right that it is probably sprinkled with a bit of sarcasm.

      Ah, fair point! I don't see <title> elements in my browser setup and missed that. It's not the title shown in the article.

When you are the size of Google, I am not sure how much people not using the web is a problem, as long as people use your products.

The Google-Web is probably going to stay around and become more and more what it already is.

On the other hand, it is likely we'll see more companies offer alternative version to explore the web. Kagi and Marginalia are 2 examples, with different visions, of how to approach the web, and it's not unreasonable to think the future we'll give us more alternatives like these.

Google does everything else, but not perfecting the web. The examples are everywhere.
