Hey guys,

Over the past few weeks, I have been working on vatchai.com – a next-generation AI customer service agent. Designed to be available 24/7, it can dynamically scale according to your business needs and rapidly adapt to any training data you provide.

I'd really appreciate your feedback on this!

Given this is the quality at launch, it's very impressive. I loved how authentic it sounded, however as another comment pointed out, the pauses seem excessively long. I do understand the reasons behind it (with the LLMs and processing times), but this is something you could actively look at working on because the goal is to make it sound more natural. Fantastic product, good luck with scaling and getting it to market!

Listening to the example audio the pauses are fairly long and awkward. Having been forced to communicate with AI like this in a drive thru, I can say personally that it's painful enough to make me reconsider ever calling back; I've never been back to that drivethru.

I would put a priority on making it far more fluid. Also important is the way it answers the call, which is completely lifeless and devoid of energy. Though I guess this matches the way most teenage workers answer the phone :)

Thanks for the feedback, petee! We are actively working on improving the fluidity of the conversation and hope that very soon we'd be able to make it sound like it is not lifeless and devoid of energy.

Glad to hear, I really think it'll go a long way in terms of acceptance.

And I just wanted to leave some honest feedback, apparently at least one person here thinks i was being a dick, but was not my intention, and I hope you don't take it as that. I wish you good luck with your project

Hey petee, we find your feedback to be very valuable (and not rude at all). Good and honest feedback like this will help us improve our product over time. The free market is a lot more ruthless than HN commenters.

If you've ever tried to build an app like this, the pause lengths are actually pretty good. Because you have to recognize the end of the user's speech, send it to the LLM, wait for the LLM to finish replying, then send that to the speech engine, wait for that to process.

I understand the reasons, and it may be great by comparison, but as an end user it's not really acceptable quite yet; people have to be able to use it to get something done and these little frustrations can easily push customers away.

To bring up my drive-thru example again, I mentioned it at the window and they said a lot of people were upset by the interaction too and had complained. Since there are alternatives nearby its easy to just not return to deal with "that".

Maybe some 'hold over' phrases could be used to fill the air while processing, like "sure, just a sec" , anything to let a user know that they were actually heard
