I built Breaklist to organize the essential info I need to start my day. It generates a personalized morning briefing, optimized for thermal printers.

The morning report currently includes:

Task list Reminders Weather forecast Summary of latest top articles on Hacker News

The result is a tidy, receipt-sized report that I can print and take on-the-go each morning.

Do you recommend any specific receipt printers? I have a handful of Epsons from a consulting engagement, but an always on the lookout for better hardware.

Thermal printers usually don't have a lot of variety. The main difference among them is the width of the paper they use: some utilize 58mm paper, while others use 80mm. As far as I know Epson printers are one of the best in terms of build quality and longetivity. In my experience, the print quality tends to remain consistent across different printer models, with paper quality playing a more significant role in the final output. Personally, I've had success using an affordable option; a Chinese second-hand Cashino CSN-A1 58mm printer. It performs quite well =)
