'Proxima Fusion, incorporated in January, aims to build a complex device known as a stellarator and is the latest company to join the emerging fusion industry’s effort to generate electricity by fusing atoms.

    And this is the reason why Europe can't compete with the US. The Max Planck Institute has a stellar reputation, and this funding amounts to not much more than the signing bonus for a Google Principal Software Engineer.

    VC's in the US will not pick up the phone on you, unless you are asking for at least 100 million ( I am serious...)
