NodeVPN, yet Another VPN?
nodevpn.comIf someone is selling ideology, most of the time it will be a shallow one. Theoretically it could be done right way but much harder in practice.
yeah, we need better watchdog orgs and system for this kind of thing. anyway, best of luck
Unfortunate name. Sounds eerily like NordVPN. But this one is greener!
don't see what platform is supported ? Does it have/will have Linux client?
Looks innovative
How so? VPNs aren't innovative. Greenwashing with carbon offsets isn't innovative, even if you believe they're legitimate. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/18/revealed...
It’s a bit rash to assume that all carbon offsets are corrupt. That article reads 90% of the largest supplier of carbon credits was corrupt. Obviously an issue. But done right, it funds reforestation.
If you read their blog, looks like they are using some kind of blockchain based carbon credits and offsetting 200%. That doesn’t sound corrupt. That sounds like a solution to combat the corruption in carbon credits if you ask me.
*UPDATE* - I have a reply from my ticket:
"Thank you for your feedback regarding the mention of blockchain in the terms and condition in relation to our proprietary blockchain connection authentication. This information was in need of an update. We originally had our own blockchain which we were using to develop various ideas such as decentralised gateways and connection to them anonymously. However, we were unable to make it work in a way that added any value and as such it was subsequently dropped. Our solution currently makes no use of our own blockchain. However, our independent carbon credit provider uses their blockchain solution for tracking and eliminating corruption. I have now updated the t&c. If you would like more information on this or have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again for helping us prepare for launch".
Here is a much better example of greenwashing, check this out: greenvpn.com
