Show HN: We built a device that makes our iPhones tools again
getbrick.appHey HN - we're two lifelong friends who just graduated college, and we built a device to help us use our iPhones more intentionally.
We realized how much smartphones negatively impact so many of our daily experiences with constant notifications and temptations to scroll. We tried out the existing solutions, but nothing was quite right (software-only solutions were too easy to bypass, and getting a flip phone was a bit too hardcore).
We've been spending the last few months building a physical "key" for distractions on our iPhones. We taught ourselves Swift to develop the app, and we purchased an Ender 3 3D printer to print out prototypes of the actual device.
The website linked has a video showing how it works. We've been using it for awhile now and it's been super helpful; we'd love to hear your feedback on what could make it better. Also, we have a handful of prototypes that we'd be happy to send to people willing to try it out. very cool!
