GPT-5: a short story written by GPT-4
analogmantra.comI knew the storyline I wanted roughly and used a lot of prompting and re-prompting and some editing to get what I was looking for. It was surprisingly hard to get GPT-4 to make the ending dark, the RLHF was very clearly steering it towards coming up with last minute changes of mind or plot twists that made the ending happy.
Nice work! This was very engaging. I could tell there was a human hand at work, though it’s extra spooky not knowing just how much has come from the machine.

Very well written. This is the future of human authorship. Humans paired with AI help make the best final text possible. I predict a controversy in the future where a famous author is outted for having used AI when claiming they didn’t. Like steroid use. Every author will do it now but some will lie about using.
