The urgent need for solutions to critical environmental challenges is well attested, but often environmental problems are understood as fundamentally collective action problems. However, to solve these problems, there is also a need to change individual behavior. Hence, there is a pressing need to inculcate in individuals the environmental virtues — virtues of character that relate to our environmental place in the world. A way of meeting this need, by the judicious, safe, and controlled administration of “classic” psychedelic drugs as a way to catalyze the development of environmental virtues – a form of moral bio-enhancement. This soon will become a reality given Biden has paved the way with suggesting the NDMA will be an FDA licensed medicine by 2024. However the next rate limiting step is the training of people who can administer the medicines. Rick Doblin from MAPS recons 10,000 clinics will be opened which will need at least 100,000 trained healthcare professionals. The has lead some corporate entities to make training which costs in the region of $10,000. The Open Source Psychedelic Therapy Course intends to open this up and offer it to healthcare practitioners for free.
