Twitter used to allow account names that are one character long or longer. They now have a 5 character minimum length so I presume a load of unused short account names will be deleted and won't be available to re-register.

There's some great tweets that stay famous & are useful things, that get re-shared for a long long time.

This is saying we will burn the collective human history. Eventually you will die and your online past will be wiped out with you. Eventually all quotes will self immolate, be wiped off the facce of the planet.

Personally I find this extremely reprehensible, to be the shittiest lowest class most garbage dumptruck take we could make against humanity. It's just cavalierly cruel & stupid & shortsighted. The deliberate & cruel unwillingness people go through to talk themselves down about the meaningfulness & importance of twitter as a medium, to regard it as ephemeral & unworthy of note, not worth preserving: it's anti-human, anti-value, is sabotage of the idea that people have value. It's all low. We shouldnt burn ine of the most participatory records of human interaction. Even if 99% of the traffic is as frivolous & pointless as the detractors, those selling anti-value, would have us believe. We shouldnt do this.

I agree. That is why the 10 commandments were written in stone. If you have a really good tweet, I would make a backup by carving it in stone.

No need to overthink it. Inactive accounts get deleted and the username goes available. Simple.
