science.orgI don't know, maybe I am just an optimistic (or a fool), but for all the bad that COVID-19 has caused, we should also remember it for the goods it left and the benefits we will see in the future.
Trust the science
It’s very facile saying “trust the science” but at some point you’re going to have to do this. Many diseases are caused by the body making too little or too much of something or having a bad gene. Currently, the symptoms are treated but to cure the disease pe the body has to be changed to remove the problem. This will probably be a genetic modification which gives a lotta people the vapours.
And consider, potential parents are looking to optimize their embryo via things like CRISPR. This changes genes in a somewhat uncontrolled way. So the wind is blowing towards genetic mutation and trust is going to be required.
Small scale, if they found an invariant region of influenza viruses, can produce it and it passes testing, sign me up. This will really knock flu occurrence back until they mutate around it. Which hopefully will take a while. Think of the reward if they can do this to knock back aids so people don’t need to take drug cocktails their whole life.
